7 INSTALLATION GUIDE Tech Support 856-768-5700 Ext. 2 • TechSupport@LEDGlow.com LEDGlow Lighting, LLC • LEDGlow.com For Lead-Acid Systems: 1. Place one multimeter lead on the main negative terminal. 2. Touch the other lead to each battery’s positive terminal. 3. Identify the point where full system voltage is achieved (highest reading). 4. These are the main positive and negative connection points for the reducer. This ensures even power draw across all batteries and helps prolong battery life. For Lithium & Smart Lithium Systems: • Most lithium systems use a single battery pack with clearly labeled positive (+) and negative (–) terminals. • Connect only to the main output terminals of the battery pack. • Do NOT connect to: » Communication ports » BMS wiring » Data cables » Accessory signal terminals (unless approved by manufacturer) Important Lithium Notes: • Some retrofitted carts may use multiple lower-voltage lithium batteries wired in series to achieve system voltage. • If multiple high-voltage lithium batteries are present, they are often wired in parallel to increase capacity (amp hours). • Smart lithium batteries include a Battery Management System (BMS). Always confirm that adding a 12V reducer will not interfere with BMS operation. When in doubt, consult the battery manufacturer. PLEASE NOTE: A BMS is critical for safety, protecting cells from overcharging and over-discharging. Lithium batteries are sensitive to voltage imbalances, and a voltage reducer is necessary to regulate voltage. Some BMS feature an automatic shutdown and will not allow any accessories to be connected unless they are after a factory-installed voltage reducer. We offer accessories for certain models to help connect to some BMS systems, but it is important to always check with the cart manufacturer about adding aftermarket accessories. Step 4: Mount the Voltage Reducer 1. Select a flat, solid metal mounting surface. 2. Use screws and/or double-sided tape. 3. Keep away from: » Heat sources » Moving parts » Direct contact with plastic components The Voltage Reducer may generate heat during operation.
